Have you ever dreamed of moving to the countryside and try to be a farmer? Stardew Valley is one of the most immersive experiences of the sort out there!

It was created by Eric Barone under the alias “ConcernedApe”.  In 2011, Barone had graduated with a computer science degree, but had not been able to get a job in the industry. Looking to improve his computer skills for better job prospects, he came to the idea of crafting a game. His main influence was “Harvest Moon series”, with influences from  Animal Crossing, Rune Factory, Minecraft, and Terraria.

Storywise, your grandfather dies and leaves his farm in Stardew Valley to you. You travel there to find that you have a lot of work in front of you in order to make it functional again.

In Stardew Vallew there are a lot of things you can do. From building your farm and harvesting crops, to getting married and fight monsters in the deep mines north of Pelican Town!

In general, the game is best played in the long term, in order to enjoy its many aspects in the fullest. For example, the Community Center rebuild requires a lot of “grind” to acquire various objects from each mechanic (fishing, farming, harvesting etc).

Have you played this game? How was your favourite play-style?
