The title of the game indicates its content, but it doesn’t give the variety of its puzzles away. FLEB, the American solo dev, invites you to find the way out of 20 mazes, but things are not always easy. The challenges actually start from the options menu, which is a labyrinth as well!
After discovering the way to launch a “NEW GAME”, you will see cards laid out disorderly. Each card is a maze. Click on any one you want to bring it to the fore. Drag and place it wherever suits you best and start playing. The repositioning of the labyrinths is inevitable in some cases , since their dimensions exceed the borders of the screen.
The titles at the top of the cards give an idea of what you have to deal with. Press the arrow keys or WASD to move within the corridors. The use of a controller isn’t supported.
The roles are reversed in the level “You Are the Maze”. The two red dots that appear on the screen remain stationary, while the labyrinth is the one that moves. FLEB has included, whenever necessary, instructions about the keys you need in order to change colors, rotate jigsaw puzzle pieces, undo your actions, restart a level and more.
Can’t find the solution to a puzzle? No problem! You’re not competing against other players. You don’t score or lose points and there aren’t time limits. You can always try your luck and skills on another maze and return to the one that troubles you later.
All in all, 20 Small Mazes is a short game for all ages with an original and easy to handle UI, minimalist but pleasing to the eye graphics and enjoyable gameplay.
